Joos van den Dool Joos van den Dool

Joos van den Dool (1977) is an engineer-architect and project manager whose knowledge and interest are in the connection of Space and Culture. With his enthusiasm, creativity and hands-on mentality, he is able to connect and stimulate people to put visions into reality.

His freelance professional activities include organisation and execution of seminars, conferences and study trips for urban planning and sustainable development.

Joos grew up in the Netherlands and graduated in 2004 in architecture and urban planning at Ghent University (Belgium). During his studies, he worked for the sustainable Triodos Bank in the Netherlands and was Teaching Assistant at Columbia University (Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation, New York-Paris Programme) in Paris (France). From 2006 until 2010 Joos was urban planning consultant at BVR adviseurs in Rotterdam (Netherlands). He advised communal, regional and national government as well as private investors and NGO’s on complex questions about spatial planning and development. Working as a member of the multidisciplinary team AtelierOverijssel, an independent laboratory for spatial quality, he organised events and excursions for professionals and executives focussing on design quality in urban planning. Besides this, Joos has committed himself as organiser to the art-and-encounter project Wintervuurplaats.nl from 2007 to 2010. Joos lives in Berlin/Potsdam (Germany), and is father of daughter Alma (*2010).

Joos is convinced that an integral approach in thinking and doing is the key for sustainability in all domains. His passion, power and talents lie in the connection of design and process, of people and their environment, of abstract values and concrete possibilities.
